The Plettenberg sits on a rocky headland above Plettenberg Bay, the beach town at the heart of South Africa's Garden Route. Part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and The Liz McGrath Collection, it was included in the MICHELIN Guide 2026 hotel selection and voted the #1 hotel in South Africa in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2025. The hotel has 35 individually decorated rooms and two villas, each framing views of the Indian Ocean, the distant mountains and long stretches of golden sand. Breakfast is included every morning, served in the restaurant or in your room. Spend your days between two pools overlooking the bay, one heated to around 25°C and one kept cool for a refreshing dip. From June to mid-November, southern right and humpback whales visit the bay, and pods of dolphins often move in close to shore.
