 Best Time to Travel

The best time to travel to Thailand is between November and February due to lower rain fall and cooler weather. If you plan to focus on the northern provinces the hot season (March to May) and early rainy season (June to July) are not bad either, as temperatures are moderate at higher elevations. Northeastern and central Thailand on the other hand are best avoided from March to May when temperatures may climb over 40°C.

Flights

Flights to Phuket International Airport are cheap as chips. Return flights from the east coast of Australia range from $540 to $650 and the west coast from $500. Note - If you are looking for budget flights to Bangkok note they arrive at Don Mueang International Airport rather then Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Return flights from the east coast of Australia range from $560 to $490 and west coast from $590.

Airport Transfers

Landing in Phuket International Airport you will find a number of options available to help you get to your accommodation. The cheapest way  is to go with  Airport Bus Phuket , which will costs around $3 AUD. The bus leaves every hour between 6:30am to 8:45pm. Note - All our deals on My Week Away either include airport transfers or heavily discounted transfers, making your trip from the airport to your chosen destination easy and without stress.

Getting around

Flying - Flying from one destination to another is relatively cheap and gives you more time to enjoy your holiday rather then spending your valuable days travelling. The down side of travelling by air is you don’t get a real sense of the country.

Bus - Thailand has a very reliable government-licensed bus system that connects all areas of the country. Comfortable, air-conditioned buses run frequently between major cities and fares are low.

Trains - Thailand has one of the best metre-gauge rail systems in the world, and train travel is easily the best way to get around & see the country.  Train travel in Thailand is comfortable, safe, cheap, environmentally friendly and unlike flying, it’s a genuine Thai experience making the journey as much a part of your trip as the destination.  Taking the train is easily the best way to travel between Bangkok & Chiang Mai, a train+ferry combo is the best way from Bangkok to Ko Samui, and a train+bus combo is the best way from Bangkok to Krabi or Phuket.
